baltimore harbor

baltimore harbor, originally uploaded by Valerie Morrison.

this was taken on one of my many trips to baltimore harbor last year. i really didn’t like this photo in color and not so much in black and white either, but tried my hand at post-processing, not my favorite pastime. still the photo has an old, dated look and i do like that about it.

  1. “post-processing”

I have no idea what that is, but this shot is AWESOME, girl! I love how you changed it into B&W. yes, it does give such a cool older, dated look to it.

I’ve only been to Baltimore once and really enjoyed it.

    Have a super day, Val!

post processing – digital darkroom for me. alteration of a digital image until the desired look is reached. okay so i just made up that definition, but it’s close.

originally, this was an ugly color photo but because of post-processing or manipulation, i made it an okay black and white image.

thanks kind sir, i’m enjoying your photos. please to be posting more of them.

  2. Slap, slap, slap — what? You don’t like it in B&W? Maybe I need to get my eyes checked — but I think it looks great! Your composition leads your eye to the building. It draws you in! Love it!

frances! there you are, missed ya. i don’t have a lot of emotions for this pic, it gave me a headache to figure out what to do with it. the composition is decent though, i’ll agree with that, i just don’t feeeel anything for it. oh well, it doesn’t love me back. ha! thanks!

  3. I do love this picture – the colors, the perspective, the mood and the clouds…don’t they just say something…like Lana says, ‘brooding and foreboding’.

I wonder what the original colors were as the clouds may have conveyed a different story with color 🙂

This is my first visit (from BC) but I’m sure I’ll be back as I’ve enjoyed several of your pictures, not just this one.

thanks so much TBT and welcome to my photo blog.

the original colors were ugly and boring. taken on the fly shot. i wonder if there is a way i could show the original image with a hoover over. hmmm, will have to look into that.

hopefully, i’ll be uploading some more pics soon. i’m crazy all over the place and mad busy. need to pull things back in a bit.

Speak on it!
