i attempted to take a calm self-portrait of myself “meditating” but after several shots i wasn’t calm anymore. still, a lot of people say i have a calm personality so i am the subject of the day. boo!

a day late and a dollar short, but be sure to check out the other peeps doing the darn thing on time. ;)

photography itself is very calming, but self-portraits are not my friend. the remote helps, but if i’m not already feeling the subject (that is me) then nothing helps. though i do love the grain in the photo.

thanks cheryl. i took this photo in a completely dark room, bumped up the iso and use the light coming from another room. i got the idea to use the mirror (and sit down) after i got tired of trying to take a calm shot. ha.

thanks, ziva. i like being seen but not seen. i have this photo – or a similar one – with less noise, but i think it works better with noise (grain).

boom boom, i don’t like having my photo taken. i do it though – for the living – and appreciate when people allow me to take their photo, even if i can’t upload them.

Yes! You most certainly do! In fact, I remember meeting you for the first time this past summer and thinking that…”calm.”

    AWESOME shot, Val!

ron, even when people sneak up on me to scare me, i turn and look as if i knew they were there, unfazed. sometimes i wonder if i need to be less calm and show more emotion, but i’d be faking the funk then and i rather save my energy for something worth getting worked up over. yeah, that must be it.

we will meet again, hopefully this year, next month?

mostoneskin, welcome to my blog and hello. i love silver, more than gold and like having something around my neck, so i wear it mostly everyday unless my outfit dictates something else. thanks!

    • v says:

i’m sorry, mostoneskin. i don’t know what’s going on with my blog. maybe it’s not used to all the love being shown to it over the past two weeks and doesn’t know how to handle processing comments. i’ve looked into it though and can’t find any reason why it’s eating comments like oreo cookies. thanks for your persistence. i do check the spam filter often.

danielle, yeah they kind of do drive me crazy too and i’m never satisfied with the stranger either. oh well, i’m sure i’ll do more though i’ve banned myself from doing them.

i know, mike. at first it’s unnerving and then you get used to it and then you hate it but you do it anyway hoping no one else looks at it, even after it’s published.

  2. The silver heart really stands out to me, and gives the photo an ethereal quality that takes it to an entirely different dimension for today’s theme. Very nice work, in my humble opinion.

    • v says:

yes, ethereal is the word mike. and because my vocabulary only includes about 20 words or so, no wonder i couldn’t match the feeling with the visual to come up with a verbal expression to describe it. now you must drop new words here to help increase my vocabulary. i’ll be even more fierce when i appear on jeopardy. thanks mwj!

Speak on it!
