day 350 – winter social

winter social

my job had its annual winter social tonight and since i’ve been there (2006) this is only my 2nd time attending.  i’m anti-social and don’t usually go to these events.  the first time i went, before i could even sit down at a table, a woman says to me, “valerie, i heard you were funny, say something funny valerie.” i sat there with nothing to say, but now we know each other better and sometimes i let her see my funny. i didn’t have the main course, only dessert and something to much on during cocktail hour. i waited around until after dinner to see if i could win a barnes and noble gift card. after i found out i lost, by way of a drawing, i left.  at least the carrot cake was delicious.

You are truly one of THE funniest people I know, Val. Your sense of humor is faaaaaaabulous, truly!

But I know what you mean because often people ASK me to BE funny, as if I’m a trained monkey who can BE funny with flick of a switch. But funny comes from spontaneity; it just happens.

What a lovely thing your company does for their employees – a winter social. That is so cool!

    Yummy! Carrot cake. LOVE it!

Glad you had a nice evening, girl!

P.S. VERY cool photo, Val! Love the perspective!

it was a weird request, ron. funny people can’t BE funny, they just are….wait for it.

yes it is nice of them, they raffle off gifts and as a parting gift we got engraved blankets. i have a few items with the company’s name on it. thanks ron!

yeah it was a little awkward, especially since i had nothing to say and just got there. i normally don’t go but they like it better if we all do go and ask us why we are not going if we don’t. i had nothing but the truth so i went. i had no reason not to be there. pooh. it was okay though.

Speak on it!
